Michelin's own wet safety credentials are stronger on the newer model, and the owner satisfaction data backs this up. If you drive primarily in wet climates or on roads prone to surface flooding, that aquaplaning advantage alone justifies the upgrade. The Primacy 4 makes most sense in two scenarios: when the Primacy 5 simply isn't available in your size, or when you prioritise outright dry braking confidence and long tread life above all else. It remains a well-sorted, thoroughly tested tyre with a strong track record — just be aware that in heavy standing water, the newer generation has moved the benchmark considerably.
