Now it's time to look at the crucial comparison between two all-round tyres: the GoodYear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 and the Michelin CrossClimate 2. This review will outline the key strengths and weaknesses of each of these tyre models developed by the eminent GoodYear and Michelin manufacturers respectively.

The GoodYear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 is the sequel to the previous, very successful models Gen-2 and Vector 4Seasons. Made in Slovenia and France, this tyre shows a robust performance and has been given an overall rating of 86%. Known for its decent performance all around the year, this tyre proves to be a favourite amongst consumers. On the other hand, Michel CrossClimate 2, which succeeded the CrossClimate, is made in Italy and Spain. This model boasts an enhanced overall rating of 93%.

Comparing their shared features, the Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 delivers balanced performance across varied weather conditions, is good at preventing aquaplaning, offers sporty secure handling and has short braking distances. However, its kilometre performance is merely average. The Michelin CrossClimate 2 outperforms in terms of predictable high mileage and low rolling resistance. Its prowess on snow handling as well as snow cornering, is worth mentioning, though it shows slight weaknesses on wet surfaces.

In mutual tests, the CrossClimate 2 came fourth out of 37 tyres in AutoBild's test while the Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 stood sixth. Interestingly, ADAC rated the Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 as first among 16 tyres, while the CrossClimate 2 was ranked fourth. So, it is evident that the overall contest is closely fought.

The new models have brought along significant advancements. The Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 shows some weaknesses in dry braking but makes up for it with excellent wet handling and adequate snow performance. The CrossClimate 2, on the other hand, came out on top in dry braking and showed very good grip in dry conditions. However, it presents average wet braking and wet handling.

So, when it comes to which tyre is the superior choice - your priorities matter. If high mileage and excellent snow handling are your needs, Michelin CrossClimate 2 is for you. However, if you value balanced all-round performance and sporty secure handling across varied weather conditions, the Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 should be your go-to choice.
