Comparison: Kleber Dynaxer HP4 vs. Vredestein ULTRAC vs. Nokian Powerproof vs. Dunlop SP Sport MAXX RT2 vs. Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6

When it comes to top-notch summer tyres, car enthusiasts often find themselves choosing between Kleber Dynaxer HP4 and Vredestein ULTRAC. Both offer unique qualities that deserve a closer examination.

Starting with the Kleber Dynaxer HP4, we noted an overall rating of 74%, which is more than satisfactory. The standout features of this tyre, as rated in the Autobild test, were its comfort and minimal external noise, a feature that ensures a quiet ride. It makes a favourable impression with good aquaplaning safety and short braking distances in dry conditions. Adding to its allure, it provides a high level of ride comfort and low tire noise. However, its handling tends to understeer and it delivers a somewhat average performance in wet conditions with its delayed steering response.

Our Verdict: The Kleber Dynaxer HP4 essentially excels in providing a safe and comfortable ride. However, it has room for improvement in its wet grip and handling characteristics.

Moving on to the Vredestein ULTRAC, which is made in Hungary and is the first equipment on the BMW 2-series Active Tourer. It does not perform as well overall, scoring only a 21% rating. However, don't let that number fool you. In the Autobild test, it was praised for its excellent aquaplaning properties in both cross and longitudinal tests. It further excels in dry handling, wet circle cornering and wet handling. Moreover, it provides excellent driving dynamics with short wet and dry braking distances. Its shortcomings, however, lie in its limited mileage and higher rolling resistance.

Our Verdict: The Vredestein ULTRAC makes a solid impression with its superior wet and dry handling qualities, but the tyre's lifespan could be improved.

In conclusion, when comparing both tyres in our experiments and other tests, the Kleber Dynaxer HP4 ranks slightly higher in the overall tests - in 13th place, compared to the Vredestein ULTRAC in 14th position out of 21 tyres tested. Although the HP4 is not as dynamic as the Ultrac, its better result in our tests makes it a more balanced choice for the general driver who values comfort and quietness. However, if your driving style is sportier, or if wet driving dynamics are more important to you, the Ultrac might be the better option.

As for today, neither of these tyres has been replaced by a newer model.
