Comparison: Firestone Firehawk Sport vs. Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6

html
Matching a budget UHP tyre against one of the segment's best is rarely a close fight, and this comparison between the Firestone Firehawk Sport and the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 is no exception. The Goodyear carries forward the legacy of the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 and the earlier Asymmetric 3, while the Firestone is a standalone model with no predecessor in this segment. The ratings alone — 73% versus 92% — hint at what the tests confirm.

Across three shared tests, the Goodyear finishes ahead every time. In the Auto Bild comparison (13 tyres), the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 placed 3rd while the Firehawk Sport came in 9th. The Goodyear topped multiple disciplines including dry handling, wet handling, wet circle cornering, longitudinal aquaplaning, mileage and cost efficiency — a sweep that left little room for competitors. The Firestone's strongest cards were rolling resistance and exterior noise, where it genuinely impressed.

In the ADAC test (18 tyres), the gap narrows slightly — 4th versus 7th — but the Goodyear still leads. The SportAuto test (11 tyres) tells the same story: Goodyear 2nd, Firestone 4th. SportAuto noted the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6's shortest braking distances, best balance and the widest safety margins at the limit on wet surfaces. The Firehawk Sport earned recognition for its lowest rolling resistance in the field and reliable, stable dry handling.

Firestone Firehawk Sport — Strengths and Weaknesses

The Firehawk Sport is a capable tyre for its price bracket. Auto Bild praised its good dry and wet characteristics, light weight and low fuel consumption. On dry roads it handles with confidence and braking distances are competitive. Rolling resistance is a genuine highlight — one of the lowest in multiple tests, which translates directly to fuel savings. The problem is wet performance. Aquaplaning reserves are below average, and both Auto Bild and SportAuto flagged understeering on wet corners and delayed steering response as consistent weaknesses. Mileage is also below average, and wear rates are higher than rivals.

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 — Strengths and Weaknesses

The Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 is one of the most complete UHP summer tyres in the current market. Auto Bild 2023 described it as a "premium sports tyre without fault" — short braking distances on wet and dry, sporty direct turn-in, good aquaplaning reserves, quiet pass-by noise and fuel-saving rolling resistance, all in one package. The 2025 Auto Bild data adds outstanding mileage and best-in-class cost efficiency to that list. The only critique that has come up across tests is that cornering grip on wet surfaces isn't quite at the absolute top level, though it remains well above the field average.

Verdict

The Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 is the better tyre across every test and every meaningful category except rolling resistance, where the Firestone competes. For drivers who prioritise safety, wet performance and long-term value, the Goodyear is the obvious choice. The Firestone Firehawk Sport suits buyers on a tighter budget who do most of their driving in dry conditions and value low fuel consumption — just go in knowing its wet-weather limits.
