Today we are comparing two prominent summer tyres, the Bridgestone Turanza T005 and the Vredestein ULTRAC. These tyres are manufactured by Bridgestone and Vredestein respectively.
Bridgestone Turanza T005
This
touring tyre excels with a high rating of 89%. In tests such as Autoklub ČR and Autobild, it came out in positions 3 and 1 respectively out of 19 and 51 total tyres tested. It is praised for its
rolling resistance, wet circle cornering, and dry and wet braking. Furthermore, its dry handling is also recommended with good aquaplaning resistance. However, it is noted for its slightly extended wet braking and higher than average external noise. Despite these cons, this tyre overall scored very well in most tests and is a strong contender.
Vredestein ULTRAC
The Vredestein ULTRAC, which is often used as first equipment for BMW 2-series Active Tourer, holds a rating of 42%. In the same tests, it was positioned 7 and 4. Its strengths lie in
excellent wet handling, dry braking, and best aquaplaning resistance in the test. However, it has some downsides as well, such as a high rolling resistance and high external noise. Despite these weaknesses, its performances on both dry and wet grounds were convincing, leading to overall good results.
Verdict
Overall, in mutual test positions and judging by the strengths and weaknesses of each tyre, the Bridgestone Turanza T005 outperforms the Vredestein ULTRAC. Its rolling resistance and wet circle cornering were particularly impressive. While the Vredestein ULTRAC put up a good fight, especially in wet conditions, high rolling resistance and external noise let it down a bit.
However, looking at your specific requirements and circumstances, such as driving styles, conditions, and vehicle compatibility, one tyre may be better suited for you than the other. It's important to consider these factors when choosing between these well-performing tyres.
It should be noted that neither of these tyres have been replaced by newer models as of yet, so both are still relevant choices for summer tyres.
