Comparison: Bridgestone Blizzak 6 vs. Bridgestone Blizzak LM-005 vs. Michelin Primacy 5 vs. GoodYear UltraGrip Performance+

Blizzak 6 masters snow; LM-005 still reigns supreme in the wet.

Bridgestone's Blizzak name has long stood for winter safety, and these two models represent the range's evolution rather than a straight swap. The Bridgestone Blizzak 6 is the current-generation Blizzak flagship — a more balanced, all-conditions winter tyre that scores higher in our overall ratings. The Bridgestone Blizzak LM-005, its direct predecessor, remains available and continues to earn respect as one of the most accomplished wet-weather winter tyres ever tested. Choosing between them comes down to where you drive and what winter throws at you most often.

Verdict

If you are buying new today and winter driving in your area means real snow — even occasionally — the Blizzak 6 is the right Blizzak to choose. It is the more rounded, current-generation tyre, better in snow and more comfortable on the daily commute, and its higher overall rating reflects genuine progress. If your winters are wet and cold rather than snowy, or you need a smaller size that the Blizzak 6 doesn't cover, the LM-005 remains a genuinely excellent tyre — its wet braking and aquaplaning credentials are still exceptional by any standard. Both are safe, premium choices; the decision comes down to which winter conditions you face most.
