Comparison: Vredestein ULTRAC vs. Pirelli Cinturato P7 C2 vs. Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance 2 vs. Firestone Roadhawk 2

In this comparison, we will be looking at two summer tyres: the Vredestein ULTRAC and the Pirelli Cinturato P7 C2.

The Vredestein ULTRAC, a Vredestein tyre, received an overall rating of 21%. Test data highlighted its excellent wet handling and superior aquaplaning resistance - both longitudal and cross. Additionally, it has been described as providing stable side guidance and good driving quality, along with pleasant rolling comfort. The tyre showed a slight tendency for understeering on both, wet and dry surfaces, had slightly prolonged braking distances, and higher rolling resistance. Furthermore, reviewers noted its high external noise. It's worth mentioning that it was manufactured in Hungary and came as first equipment for the BMW 2-series Active Tourer. Its position in one of the Aftonbladet tests was 7 out of 10.

By contrast, the Pirelli Cinturato P7 C2, a Pirelli tyre, achieved outstanding overall rating of 89%. Its key strengths are stable driving characteristics on wet and dry surfaces, direct steering response with good feedback, excellent comfort, and low rolling resistance. Moreover, it was recognised for its dry braking, and wet handling performance. Despite this, a few weaknesses were evident; it had slightly prolonged dry braking distances and only average aquaplaning resistance. The tyre stood out in the Aftonbladet test, securing the third position out of 10. Note that this model has been replaced by the Pirelli Cinturato C3.

When it comes to comparison, the Pirelli Cinturato P7 C2 outperformed the Vredestein ULTRAC in almost all metrics. In the Autozeitung test, it took second place out of 9, while the ULTRAC trailed behind with the fourth position. The Autobild test echoed these results, with the Pirelli Cinturato P7 C2 once again outshining the Vredestein ULTRAC.

In conclusion, while the Vredestein ULTRAC offers pleasant driving comfort and good wet performance, it's overshadowed by the Pirelli Cinturato P7 C2 in overall performance metrics. The Pirelli Cinturato P7 C2 merits praise for its superior driving stability, excellent comfort, and low rolling resistance, but it does have some minor drawbacks, such as slightly longer dry braking distances and average aquaplaning resistance.
