Comparison: Vredestein ULTRAC vs. Bridgestone Turanza T005 vs. BFGoodrich Advantage

2 mutual test(s) with detailed data

On our tire test page, we have compared two popular models - the Vredestein ULTRAC and the Bridgestone Turanza T005. Both these tyres are intended for use during the summer and are produced by well-known manufacturers, Vredestein and Bridgestone respectively.

The Vredestein ULTRAC, manufactured in Hungary, offers excellent wet handling and the best aquaplaning resistance on the test. Dry braking is good. However, it has a high rolling resistance and produces high external noise. Despite this, the tire managed to clinch the 2nd position in our test out of 10 tested tires in Autozeitung. It also had a positive review in Autobild, where it secured the 4th position out of 51 tested tires.

The main drawback of Vredestein ULTRAC seems to be a limited mileage capability, as indicated in both TyreReviews.com and ADAC's tests. However, the Vredestein ULTRAC was the OE (Original Equipment) tire for the BMW 2-series Active Tourer, indicating its high level of quality and performance.

The Bridgestone Turanza T005, produced in Hungary, Poland, France, and Italy, performed well across tests. Its strengths include rolling resistance and cornering on a wet circle. The tire showed impressive performance in Autoklub ČR, where it ranked 3rd out of 19 patented tyres. In Autobild, it grabbed the top spot due to excellent dry and wet braking, wet circle cornering, and wet handling.

According to TyreReviews.com, the Bridgestone Turanza T005 offers good dry braking and very good aquaplaning resistance, although it does have slightly extended wet braking and exhibits sluggish dry handling. Despite this, it performed better in mutual tests, securing a higher ranking in most.

Just like the Vredestein ULTRAC, the Bridgestone Turanza T005 also had a high external noise. The tire's mileage life is also questionable, according to Autobild’s test, but this could vary depending on driving conditions and usage.

In conclusion, both models have their strengths and weaknesses, but the Bridgestone Turanza T005 performs better in overall tests, taking into account a variety of factors like rolling resistance, cornering, and both wet and dry braking. However, the Vredestein Ultrac also shows substantial performance, notably in wet handling and aquaplaning resistance, which are critical in wet conditions. When choosing between these two, consider your driving style and the conditions you most often encounter.
