Comparison: Semperit Speed-Life 3 vs. Vredestein ULTRAC vs. GoodYear Efficientgrip Performance 2

The purpose of this review is to compare two summer tyres: the Semperit Speed-Life 3, and the Vredestein ULTRAC. Both tyres have been extensively tested and evaluated, with insightful data taken from a variety of tests including Autobild, ADAC and Autoklub.

The Semperit Speed-Life 3 holds a solid reputation, ranking 47% on the site’s rating scale. This model carries forward the legacies of its predecessors, notably the highly-revered Semperit Speed-Life. However, its performance in mutual tests was somewhat mitigated, with a 43rd position in Autobild out of 51 tested tyres, and a 12th in ADAC out of 16. The tyre's strengths reside in its good handling on wet surfaces, high estimated mileage, low wear, and good efficiency. Notably, it excels in cross-aquaplaning according to the ADAC test. However, its dry surface handling was considered a weak point.

On the other hand, the Vredestein ULTRAC made in Hungary has shown exceptional performance. It has won the prestige of being the first choice for the BMW 2-series Active Tourer. However, the tyre has a lower site rating of 21%. Yet, it has shown stellar performance in the tests, securing 4th place in the Autobild test and 13th in the ADAC test. The tyre exhibits excellent dynamics with short wet and dry braking distances, superior aquaplaning properties, safe features on both wet and dry surfaces, and low fuel consumption. However, its lower projected mileage and higher wear have been criticized.

Despite having some downsides, the tyres from Semperit and Vredestein offer interesting propositions for different user needs. While the Semperit Speed-Life 3 promises longevity and efficiency, the Vredestein ULTRAC stands out for its safety and fuel-efficient features. In conclusion, both the Semperit Speed-Life 3 and the Vredestein ULTRAC remain distinct mandatory considerations for anyone in search of a proficient summer tyre.
