Comparison: Pirelli Cinturato P7 vs. Vredestein ULTRAC

2 mutual test(s) with detailed data

The comparison at hand is between two summer tyres: the Pirelli Cinturato P7 and the Vredestein ULTRAC . Looking at their overall performance, the Pirelli tyre has an overall rating of 75%, while the Vredestein tyre has a significant lower rating of 21%. The Italian-made Pirelli tyre does not have a replacement whereas the Hungarian Vredestein tyre is leveraged as the first line of equipment of the BMW 2-series Active Tourer.

Based on ACE test results, the Pirelli tyre showed considerable strength in dry handling, giving it an objective position of 4 out of 10 compared to Vredestein's position at 2, which boasted of superior performance in aquaplaning and dry handling.

However, Autobild's testing reveals a different story, position-wise. Out of 55 tyres tested, Pirelli took the 9th spot while Vredestein claimed a higher position of 3, excelling in wet and dry handling, as well as aquaplaning aspects.

Summarising from the Autobild 2024 test, the Pirelli Cinturato P7 shines with its short braking distance and dynamic steering and handling behavior. However, its drawback lies in the satisfactory performance in terms of mileage and economy, and an increased price level. In contrast, the Vredestein ULTRAC received praise for its outstanding driving dynamics, short wet and dry braking distances, and excellent aquaplaning qualities. Unfortunately, it falls short with lower mileage and increased rolling resistance.

In conclusion, these tyres demonstrate different strengths and weaknesses. The choice between the two depends largely on the driver’s priority, whether it's superior dry handling or better overall performance in both dry and wet conditions.
