Comparison: Maxxis Premitra HP5 vs. Kleber Dynaxer HP4 vs. Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance 2 vs. Firestone Roadhawk

2 mutual test(s) with detailed data

Today we will be comparing two summer tyre models: the Maxxis Premitra HP5 and the Kleber Dynaxer HP4, both popular choices manufactured by Maxxis and Kleber respectively.

Starting with the Maxxis Premitra HP5, this tyre was awarded a 56% rating on our site, demonstrating its average performance. It showed great performance in the Autobild tests, securing itself 9th position out of 53. Its standout features include strong resistance to aquaplaning, achieving impressive results in the categories of Aquaplaning - cross and Aquaplaning - longitudinal. Maxxis Premitra HP5 is also known for its short braking distances on wet surfaces and lower price range. However, it was noted for its underperforming dry handling and limited mileage in addition to increased rolling resistance.

On the other hand, the Kleber Dynaxer HP4 achieved a higher rating of 74% from our team. Despite placing lower in the Autobild tests at 14th position, comfort and low exterior noise were repeatedly highlighted as its best features. The test summary points out good aquaplaning characteristics, short wet and dry braking distances, and excellent riding comfort combined with low rolling noise. However, grip could be improved in wet conditions, and dry handling was criticised.

When it comes to performance in mutual tests, Maxxis Premitra HP5 outperformed the Kleber Dynaxer HP4 by achieving the 1st position in the ACE test where it was praised particularly for its wet handling, dry braking, and dry handling. The HP4 lagged behind here, landing at 6th position but still noted for its quieter exterior noise.

Summarising, the Maxxis Premitra HP5 seems to be a good option for those who need a tyre with excellent aquaplaning resistance and short wet braking distances. However, its dry handling leaves room for improvement. The Kleber Dynaxer HP4, while not performing quite as well in comparative tests, offers a very comfortable and quiet ride, making it a potential choice for individuals prioritising these features. However, its grip, particularly in wet conditions, needs notable improvement.

It’s important to note as a final point, that both these tyres are summer variants, meaning their performance in winter conditions will not be optimal. Based on these tests and analyses, choosing between the Maxxis Premitra HP5 and the Kleber Dynaxer HP4 ultimately comes down to individual driving needs.
