The Kumho Ecsta PS71, according to Autobild, excels in areas such as longitudal aquaplaning and comfort, ranking it 12th out of 50 tyres in their test. It also scores well in wet handling and wet braking. However, its weaknesses lie in the comfort during dry road conditions, along with a lower predicted mileage, according to the autobild 2025 test.


On the other hand, the Michelin Pilot Sport 5, which is the successor of the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 and Michelin Pilot Sport 3, is a well-rounded tyre. It boasts high ratings in mileage and wet braking, according to Autobild, ranking it 6th overall out of 50 tyres tested. Despite some minor weaknesses in cross aquaplaning behaviour, the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 impresses with a very high predicted mileage and low fuel consumption in the autobild 2025 test.


In the ADAC test, the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 secured a stellar 3rd place out of 18 tested tyres. In comparison, the Kumho Ecsta PS71 positioned itself slightly lower at the rank 13. Similarly, in the ACE test, the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 ranked 3rd out of 10 tyres tested, while the Kumho Ecsta PS71 secured a slightly lower 7th position.


In conclusion, the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 seems to be the more balanced and better-performing tyre overall. With an impressive third place in both ADAC and ACE tests, and 6th place in Autobild, it surpasses the performance of the Kumho Ecsta PS71, which achieved 12th and 13th places respectively in the Autobild and ADAC tests, and 7th in the ACE test.
