The comparison is between two summer, UUHP type tyres; the Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 K127 by Hankook and the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 by Michelin.

The Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 K127, made in Korea, scored a 74% rating, and is noted for its offering of excellent value for money coupled with commendable wet grip and low energy use. This tyre is, however, haunted by a slower steering response and relatively lower aquaplaning resistances as compared to counterparts.

The Michelin Pilot Sport 5, a successor to the Pilot Sport 4 and Pilot Sport 3 models, excels in durability tests, scoring a high 97% rating. Its robust tread-life outlasted all other tyres tested, and performances remained consistent across different conditions. It showcased good steering and a balanced understeer, with a lessened eco impact.

In the mutual test results, both Hankook and Michelin tyres secured the 4th position in the 'Die Reifentester ' test out of 8 tyres. The standout features of the Hankook tyre were its price/value and wet braking whilst Michelin was praised for its dry handling and aquaplaning resistance performance under wet conditions. In the 'ACE' test Hankook stood on the 7th place, with Michelin securing the 3rd place among 10 tyres. The Michelin tyre took the 6th place in the 'Autobild' test out of 50 tyres, surpassing Hankook which took the first place. Michelin was commended for its aquaplaning resistance, and wet braking performances. Hankook was praised for its wet and dry braking performance.

To sum it up, the Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 K127 offers great value for money backed up by a commendable performance, however, it lacks in steering response and aquaplaning resistance. On the other hand, the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 offers excellent durability and consistent performance but lags behind in wet grip and also swings to the expensive side.
