Comparison: Firestone Multiseason 2 vs. Continental AllSeasonContact vs. Kleber Quadraxer 3

1 mutual test(s) with detailed data

Let's take a closer look at two all-round tyres manufactured by respected brands, the Firestone Multiseason 2 and the Continental AllSeasonContact. Both were appreciated by various reviewers, but their ratings in our own tests were quite different, with the Firestone tyre scoring 63% and the Continental one 75%.

Made in Italy, the Firestone Multiseason 2 is a winter tyre that has not been superseded by a newer model. Users appreciate its affordable price, good snow traction and high mileage. However, it tends to lack side grip on snow and offers little leeway when it comes to aquaplaning in curves. Its dry braking distance is also longer than some might like (source).

On the other hand, the Continental AllSeasonContact is an all-round tyre manufactured in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and France. Its strongest features include excellent aquaplaning - cross, dry handling, comfort, and wet circle cornering abilities. Its performance on snow is also highly rated, although it does have a tendency to understeer and its dry braking distance could be shorter. Nevertheless, it has not been replaced by a newer model either.

As for the comparison of their test performance, the Continental tyre has done better overall. In Autoklub ČR tests, it took the 2nd position out of 10 tyres, while the Firestone tyre was 6th. Autobild's tests were even stricter, with 32 tyres participating. Here, the Continental AllSeasonContact still did well, finishing 8th, while the Firestone tyre came a long way down the order, at 26th.

The Autobild 2020 test summary gave both tyres some good reviews. The Continental tyre received praise for its all-round talent, excellent winter qualities, precise steering response, high mileage, and fuel-saving rolling resistance. Critics suggested it understeers and has longer dry braking distances. Meantime, the Firestone tyre was lauded for excellent traction and short braking distances on snow, dynamic wet handling, short dry braking distances and its high mileage. However, it was also criticized for moderate aquaplaning safety reserves.

In conclusion, while both the Firestone Multiseason 2 and Continental AllSeasonContact have their strengths and weaknesses, our tests and those conducted by Autoklub ČR and Autobild indicate the Continental tyre is the superior choice overall.
