Comparison: Continental ContiPremiumContact 5 vs. Vredestein Sportrac 5 vs. Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance 2

In this comparison, we'll be looking at two established summer tyres: the Continental ContiPremiumContact 5 and the Vredestein Sportrac 5. Manufactured by industry leaders Continental and Vredestein respectively, both tyres have a solid track record when it comes to performance, but let's see how they stack up in our tests.

The Continental ContiPremiumContact 5 is a well-crafted summer tyre that was made in the Czech Republic. It excels in terms of aquaplaning (longitudinal), interior noise, wet braking, wet circle cornering, and wet handling. Scoring an impressive 68% in our rating, it holds the second position in the ADAC and the top position in the ACE test, featuring a total of 16 and 11 tyres, respectively. An important note is that this model got replaced by the Continental PremiumContact 6.

The Vredestein Sportrac 5, a summer tyre that has notably good wet circle cornering and dry driving behavior. This tyre didn't perform quite as well, scoring 58% in our rating. However, it managed to snag the top spot in the ADAC test comprised of 16 tyres and the sixth position in the ACE test comprised of 11 tyres. Of all its features, it really stands out for its wet circle cornering and dry driving behavior. Currently, there is no newer model that has replaced the Vredestein Sportrac 5.

In terms of overall scores, the Continental ContiPremiumContact 5 performed slightly better than its competitor. However, when it comes to specific features such as dry driving behaviour or wet circle, the Vredestein Sportrac 5 offers stiff competition, making the choice fundamentally comes down to your specific needs and driving conditions.

When we look at the Autobild tests, the gap between the two is closer with the Continental ContiPremiumContact 5 holding the ninth position and the Vredestein Sportrac 5 being not too far behind at eleventh, out of an extensive selection of 50 tyres. This echoes the notion that while the Continental tyre tends to perform better overall, the Vredestein tyre holds its own, especially within certain categories.

In conclusion, while both tyres demonstrate high quality, the Continental ContiPremiumContact 5 stands out as the better performer in our tests. But remember, a tyre's performance can vary depending on specific driving conditions and needs. Always consider these factors when choosing a tyre.
