Comparison: BFGoodrich Advantage vs. Vredestein ULTRAC vs. GoodYear Efficientgrip Performance 2

In this review, we will be comparing two summer tyres: the BFGoodrich Advantage and the Vredestein ULTRAC. Both models come from reputable manufacturers: BFGoodrich and Vredestein, respectively.

The BFGoodrich Advantage model received a rating of 68% in our tests. Tyre test results showed its strengths in comfort and handling on dry surfaces. Detailed observer notes from Autobild 2022 indicated stabiles Fahrverhalten and kurze Bremswege auf trockener Strecke (stable handling and short braking distances on dry surfaces), which aligned with our observations. However, challenges with understeuerndes (understeering) behavior and verlängerte Bremswege bei Nässe (elongated braking distances on wet surfaces) were also reported. Ranked 20th out of 51 total tyres in the Autobild test and 9th among 10 tyres in the Autozeitung test, the BFGoodrich Advantage showed moderate competitive performance.

On the other hand, the Vredestein ULTRAC received a rating of 26% in our tests. This tyre is manufactured in Hungary and used as the first equipment on the BMW 2-series Active Tourer. Standout features based on tests by ADAC include dry braking and interior noise. Autobild 2022 highlighted the tyres' überzeugende Sicherheitsreserven bei Aquaplaning, sportlich dynamisches Fahrverhalten, and kurze Bremswege auf nasser und trockener Piste (convincing safety reserves in aquaplaning, sporty, dynamic handling, and short braking distances on wet and dry surfaces). Despite these strengths, the Vredestein ULTRAC faced criticisms for its stark eingeschränkte Kilometerlaufleistung (severely limited mileage) and higher than average fuel consumption. Test rankings offer a mixed picture: while it secured the 4th position out of 51 in the Autobild test, it fell to 13th place out of 16 in the ADAC test.

In summary, the BFGoodrich Advantage offers comfortable ride and solid dry surface handling but could improve in its wet surface performance. The Vredestein ULTRAC impresses with its dynamic handling and superior aquaplaning protection, but its limited mileage and fuel efficiency raise concerns. Determining which tyre is better will ultimately depend on your specific usage conditions and priorities.
