Choosing a summer tyre from GT Radial's lineup can be confusing given how many sizes and variants are out there, so we've focused this overview on just two models that have accumulated enough independent test data in recent years to draw meaningful conclusions.

The newer of the two, the GT Radial SportActive 2 EVO, appears to be an updated take on the standard SportActive 2, and recent results suggest the refresh has paid off. In Autobild's 2026 test of the 245/45 R19 size, it finished a respectable 8th and earned a "good" rating, with testers highlighting it as a budget-friendly finalist that impressed with good cornering aquaplaning resistance. A separate dedicated braking-distance test from Autobild the same year placed it 12th, again noting its strong value proposition and solid cornering aquaplaning performance. Overall, the EVO comes across as a tyre that punches above its price point without any major weaknesses flagged by testers.

The original GT Radial Sport Active 2 has a longer and more mixed track record. Autobild's 2023 test of the 225/45 R18 size rated it "good," praising safe handling in both wet and dry conditions, very good aquaplaning qualities, and strong value for money, though it noted only moderate lateral grip on wet roads. However, the same tyre fared worse in Autobild's 2022 test, where it was rated "not recommended" — while aquaplaning resistance, dry braking, and rolling resistance were praised, testers flagged low wet-road grip, understeer-prone wet handling, noticeably longer wet braking distances, delayed steering response, and only moderate ride comfort. AutoMotorSport's 2022 test of the 245/45 R19 size reached a similar "sufficient" verdict, again citing the longest braking distances on both wet and dry asphalt among the field, along with limited stability in wet corners, concluding it's better suited to lighter, less powerful vehicles.

Taken together, the data suggests GT Radial's Sport Active 2 was a solid but inconsistent performer, particularly in the wet, while the newer SportActive 2 EVO looks like a step forward — at least based on the results gathered so far.
