Comparison: Yokohama Bluearth AE-50 vs. Maxxis Premitra HP5 vs. Michelin Primacy 4+

In this comparison, we will be looking at two summer tyres: the Yokohama Bluearth AE-50 and the Maxxis Premitra HP5. Both tyres have undergone a number of tests by Autozeitung, Autobild, and Autoklub ČR, and we'll analyze their strengths, weaknesses, and overall performance.

Firstly, the Yokohama Bluearth AE-50 is a summer tyre characterized by its dry steering response and comfort. It has shown satisfactory results in test rankings, albeit not excelling in the top tiers. The tyre secured the sixth position in Autozeitung and seventh in Autoklub ČR's testing out of nine and ten tyres respectively. However, in the Autobild test, this tyre slipped to the 22nd rank out of 51 tyres. Despite the middle-of-the-road rankings, the Bluearth AE-50 is praised for its dry handling and high level of comfort, which may be critical for some drivers. Yokohama, the tyre's manufacturer, replaced this model, but there is currently no information available on the newer model.

On the opposing side, the Maxxis Premitra HP5 performed exceedingly well. This summer tyre landed the third position in Autozeitung out of ten tyres and reached second place in Autoklub ČR's testing out of nine tyres. Autobild's analysis ranks it in the ninth position out of 51 tyres. The Premitra HP5 received acclaims for its exceptional behaviour in aquaplaning, cross conditions, strong dry handling, enhanced safety measures, dry steering response, exterior noise, and wet circle cornering. According to our own rating, it scored an impressive 69% overall. Maxxis, the manufacturer of this tyre, have not put forth a successor to the Premitra HP5 as yet.

Upon comparison, the Maxxis Premitra HP5 proves to outperform the Yokohama Bluearth AE-50 overall in the various tests. Even though the Yokohama tyre offers commendable dry steering response and comfort, the Maxxis tyre is superior due to its comprehensive strengths in various testing conditions and better overall test positions.

In conclusion, those prioritizing safety and varied performance benefits might lean towards the Maxxis Premitra HP5, while those preferring dry handling and comfort might opt for the Yokohama Bluearth AE-50. Regardless of your choice, both models are excellent representatives of their brands and stand as some of the top choices for a summer tyre.
