Comparison: Vredestein ULTRAC vs. Nexen N Fera Primus

3 mutual test(s) with detailed data

When it comes to choosing the right tyre, it's important to consider various factors, including performance, safety features, and cost-effectiveness. This comparison focuses on two tyres that are widely used by consumers: the Vredestein ULTRAC and the Nexen N Fera Primus.

The Vredestein ULTRAC, made in Hungary, comes with a 26% rating from our evaluation. This tyre is first equipped in the BMW 2-series Active Tourer, indicating its premium quality and durability. In Autobild's comparison, the Vredestein ULTRAC ranked higher, securing the 4th position out of 51 tyres. Despite its convincing safety reserves for aquaplaning and dynamic driving characteristics, this tyre's drawback is its significantly decreased kilometre mileage.

On the other hand, the Nexen N Fera Primus, a high performance tyre, received a 71% rating from our assessment. It held the 10th position out of 51 tyres in Autobild’s test, with its aquaplaning performance being highlighted as one of its best features. Its other strength includes dynamic wet handling. However, this tyre's mileage/economy can be improved.

Also in the ADAC test, although the Nexen N Fera Primus was placed on the 11th position, it still outranked the Vredestein ULTRAC which came 16th.

Continuing into the year 2022, both these tyres were scrutinized by Autobild. The Nexen N Fera Primus showed commendable aquaplaning qualities, solid wet handling, and short wet braking distances. On the flip side, its dry handling was understeering, and there was also a noticeable limitation in its mileage and higher rolling resistance. These test results echo our original assessment of these tyres.

In summary, the Vredestein ULTRAC manufactured by Vredestein displays a sporty dynamic driving behaviour and assures safety during aquaplaning but falls short in terms of kilometre mileage. Meanwhile, the Nexen N Fera Primus manufactured by Nexen shows remarkable aquaplaning performance, promising wet handling, and shorter wet braking distances, but has room for improvements in dry handling and economy/mileage. Considering all factors, it appears the Nexen N Fera Primus tyres have a slight edge in overall performance and reliability.
