Comparison: Uniroyal RainSport 5 vs. Pirelli Cinturato P7 C2 vs. Michelin Primacy 4+

1 mutual test(s) with detailed data

When comparing two noteworthy summer tyres, the Uniroyal RainSport 5 and the Pirelli Cinturato P7 C2, several key factors come to the fore. These tyres are both products of two respected manufacturers; Uniroyal and Pirelli respectively.

The Uniroyal RainSport 5's greatest strength is its impressive performance in aquaplaning scenarios as evidenced by the Autoklub ČR and Autobild tests. However, it scored significantly lower in comparison to the Pirelli Cinturato P7 C2 in the ADAC test, coming in 31st out of 50 tyres. In general, the tyre received commendation for its performance on wet surfaces but was criticized for its underwhelming performance in dry conditions and environmental sustainability. Its high fuel consumption and limited mileage were also notable weaknesses.

On the other hand, the Pirelli Cinturato P7 C2 fared noticeably better in tests overall. It managed to secure 4th place in Autoklub ČR and an astounding 2nd place in the Autobild test featuring 53 tyres. Its top features according to these tests were its performance in wet braking. However, it was not without its shortcomings. It exhibited certain weaknesses on wet surfaces and its environmental impact was less than ideal. Even though it performed well in terms of mileage and efficiency, there were slight issues with tread wear.

Both of these tyres stand as an improvement on their respective previous models. Although the Uniroyal RainSport 5 has not been succeeded by a newer tyre yet, the Pirelli Cinturato P7 C2 has been replaced by the Pirelli Cinturato (C3).

Overall, despite the strengths of the Uniroyal RainSport 5, especially in terms of wet performance, it is fair to say that the Pirelli Cinturato P7 C2 manages to edge out its competitor in terms of balanced performance qualities, test results, and environmental considerations. It worth bearing in mind though that the specific needs of individual drivers and vehicles may still make the Uniroyal RainSport 5 the best choice in certain circumstances.
