Comparison: Toyo Proxes Comfort vs Pirelli Cinturato P7 C2

Today, we pit two high-performing touring summer tyres head to head: the Toyo Proxes Comfort from Toyo, a popular Japanese manufacturer, and the Pirelli Cinturato P7 C2 which is a top-notch product from the world-renowned Pirelli.

Toyo Proxes Comfort

The Toyo Proxes Comfort maintains a respectable 74% rating in our tests. Notable strengths for this tyre include its excellent Aquaplaning - longitudal performance and wet handling capabilities. However, the model does show weaknesses in its extended wet braking, average dry and wet handling, and slightly slow steering response, as revealed in recent tests by Autobild and TyreReviews.com.

Autobild 2024 data noted significant merits such as good aquaplaning properties and short dry-braking distances, while TyreReviews.com 2023 highlighted low noise levels and very low rolling resistance. Despite these plaudits, the Toyo Proxes Comfort ranked 17th in both Autobild and the ADAC test, indicating room for improvement in overall performance compared to other tyres.

Pirelli Cinturato P7 C2

In contrast, the Pirelli Cinturato P7 C2 outstripped the Proxes Comfort, garnering an impressive score of 89% in our ratings. This model bagged the 2nd spot in the Autobild test, affirming it as a top-tier option. It was praised for its comfortable ride, excellent Aquaplaning - longitudal performance, and efficient wet braking abilities.

Further accolades from Autobild 2024 included stable driving characteristics on wet and dry tracks, and good Aquaplaning safety reserves. TyreReviews.com 2023 also scored Pirelli's model high for dry road performance and efficiency. But the Cinturato P7 C2 did not fare as well in the ADAC test, placing 17th, with criticism on its slightly extended dry braking distances and balance on wet surfaces.

Note that the Pirelli Cinturato P7 C2 has been replaced by the newer model, the Pirelli Cinturato (C3).

Conclusion

In summary, while both brands offer reliable tyres, the Pirelli Cinturato P7 C2 emerges superior in this comparison, thanks to its higher ratings and better performance in Aquaplaning, comfort and wet braking. However, the Toyo Proxes Comfort also holds its own with good Aquaplaning and low noise levels, making it a worthy contender, especially if budget constraints are a consideration.
