Comparison: Pirelli P ZERO vs. Maxxis Premitra HP5 vs. Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance 2 vs. Firestone Roadhawk 2 vs. GoodYear Efficientgrip Performance 2 vs. Falken e.Ziex

Today we are comparing two highly rated summer tyres, the Pirelli P ZERO and the Maxxis Premitra HP5 both designed to deliver high-end driving performance.

The Italian-made Pirelli P ZERO is a popular choice for drivers and boasts a reputable Pirelli quality mark. In our tyre review, the model earned a solid rating of 61%. Standout attributes include dry handling, dry braking, wet circle cornering, and wet handling. This makes the Pirelli P ZERO a superb tyre for both dry and wet conditions, reflecting its capability in delivering optimized braking and excellent handling at high speeds.

In the Autobild test, the Pirelli P ZERO marked an impressive 4th position out of 53 tested tyres. The tyre excelled in dry handling and braking while it also displayed great cornering abilities in wet conditions. Furthermore, in the ACE test with 11 tyres, it secured the 7th position, again manifesting its superior dry braking and wet handling performance.

On the other hand, the Maxxis Premitra HP5 comes from the globally recognized Maxxis brand. This model received an even higher score in our review with a rating of 78%. Best known for its reduced exterior noise, this tyre delivers a smooth and quieter ride, promoting a comfortable driving experience.

The Maxxis Premitra HP5 secured the 20th position out of 53 tyres in the Autobild test. Although lower-ranking when compared to the Pirelli P ZERO in this test, the Maxxis Premitra HP5 showed promising performance in reducing exterior noise. In the ACE test, this tyre performed moderately well, earning the 6th position thanks to its dry handling skill.

Although it falls behind in the Automotorsport test where it placed 10th out of 10, the Maxxis Premitra HP5 is still a worthwhile choice especially if you are prioritizing a quieter ride.

In conclusion, the Pirelli P ZERO excels in both dry and wet conditions, demonstrating impressive braking and handling capabilities. However, the Maxxis Premitra HP5 is hard to beat when it comes to noise reduction. Hence, the choice between these two highly-rated summer tyres depends on individual driver preferences: whether you value high-performance driving over a quieter journey, or vice versa.
