Comparison: Pirelli P ZERO vs. Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 K127 vs. Michelin Primacy 5 vs. GoodYear Efficientgrip Performance 2

Today's tyre comparison features two well-respected models: the Pirelli P ZERO and Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 K127. Both have excellent reputations in the market, with manufacturing heritage from Pirelli in Italy and Hankook in Korea.

The Pirelli P ZERO, a summer tyre, consistently performs well in dry conditions. In the Autobild tests, it ranked 4th out of 53 tyres for dry handling. The ADAC tests further highlighted its strengths in dry driving behaviour and dry braking. Its exterior noise also received a positive evaluation. This tyre provides excellent safety and is particularly well-regarded for wet circle cornering and wet handling.

Despite these impressive characteristics, with regard to our test results, the Pirelli P ZERO scored 61%. Noteworthy is that there is no newer model that would replace this Pirelli model.

Coming to the competition, the Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 K127, also a summer tyre, is labelled as an Ultra-Ultra High Performance (UUHP) tyre. The model was originally designed for top tier vehicles such as the Audi Q8, Audi SQ8, Porsche Cayenne, and BMW X3.

In the Autobild tests, the Hankook model triumphed over the Pirelli model, securing the 3rd position. Despite this, it fell slightly behind in the ADAC test, where it took 14th place out of 16 tyres tested. A possible reason for its lower ranking could be due to specific criteria on which it was tested; unfortunately, the best features are not readily available in the provided dataset.

Regardless of the position in the ADAC test, the Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 K127 scored a high 81% in our test result, showing a firm standing in the market. Similar to its competitor, no other tyre model has replaced it.

In summary, if absolute top performance, especially in dry conditions, is what you’re after, the Pirelli P ZERO has the upper hand. However, for a rounded performance with excellent ratings in various conditions, the Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 K127 is a reliable choice. Each tyre has its strengths and weaknesses; therefore, the decision comes down to your driving style, vehicle, and preferences.
