Comparison: Pirelli P ZERO vs. Dunlop SP Sport MAXX RT2 vs. Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance 2 vs. Pirelli P ZERO vs. Michelin Primacy 5

The two tyres under comparison here are globally recognized brands - Pirelli and Dunlop. The specific models we'll be looking at are the Pirelli P ZERO and the Dunlop SP Sport MAXX RT2. Let's dive deeper into their individual performance, strengths and weaknesses, and see how they stack up against each other in various tests.

The Pirelli P ZERO, manufactured in Italy, received a relatively low rating of 61% from our team. Some of its strengths include an excellent dry handling ability, a trait that was recognized in the Autobild test where it was placed 4th out of 53 tyres. However, despite this, the tyre also displays decent wet circle cornering abilities, achieving the 7th position out of 10 in the Gute-Fahrt test.

On the other hand, the Dunlop SP Sport MAXX RT2 achieved a higher rating of 79% from us. As an Ultra High-Performance Summer tyre, it excelled in various mutual tests such as Gute-Fahrt, Automotorsport and GTÜ. Especially in dealing with aquaplaning, both cross and longitudinal, where it captured 3rd position out of 10 in the Gute-Fahrt test.

In a more comprehensive evaluation done by Automotorsport, the Dunlop SP Sport MAXX RT2 secured 2nd place among the 8 tyres tested, cementing its position as a reliable performer. It retained the consistency in performance in the GTÜ test as well, ranking 3rd out of 14.

However, it's important to note that in a test conducted by Sportscars, both Pirelli P ZERO and Dunlop SP Sport MAXX RT2 ended close to each other, ranking 6th and 5th respectively out of 9 tyres.

In conclusion, it seems that the Dunlop SP Sport MAXX RT2 outperforms the Pirelli P ZERO overall. This is inferred based on mutual test results and our personal rating. The Dunlop SP Sport MAXX RT2 appears to demonstrate superior versatility and handling under challenging wet conditions. However, it's not to undermine the Pirelli P ZERO, especially if dry handling is a priority for you.

Both these tyres have yet to be replaced with newer models, meaning they're the latest offerings from their respective manufacturers, recognized as top-notch in terms of quality and performance.
