Comparison: Pirelli Cinturato P7 vs. Continental PremiumContact 7 vs. Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance 2 vs. Pirelli P ZERO PZ4

Today we will be comparing two popular tyres; the Pirelli Cinturato P7 and the Continental PremiumContact 7. Manufactured respectively by Pirelli and Continental, these two tyres have demonstrated exceptional performance in a range of tests.

Starting with the Pirelli Cinturato P7, which is manufactured in Italy and Romania. Our rating for this tyre is 75%. Some of its strengths highlighted in the ACE test include magnificent dry handling, where it took the 4th position out of 10 tyres, and dynamic handling behaviour. However, it was noted in the Autobild test that its life span and economic efficiency were only satisfactory and it was felt that the tyre was priced quite high. It achieved 9th place out of 55 tyres in the same test highlighting that there is some room for improvement.

On the other side, we have the Continental PremiumContact 7, which is produced in France, Slovakia, Germany, and the Czech Republic. It significantly outperforms the Pirelli Cinturato P7 with our rating of 97%. In both ACE and Autobild tests, this tyre took 1st place for its stellar dry and wet braking, and wet circle cornering performances. It was also remarked in the Autobild test for its admirable performance on wet and dry tracks and its short braking distance in both wet and dry conditions. Its lifespan was lauded and, unlike the Pirelli counterpart, no weak points were reported.

Even though two predecessor models (the Continental PremiumContact 6 and the Continental ContiPremiumContact 5) have been replaced by the Continental PremiumContact 7, none of them matched its overall high performance in these tests.

In conclusion, while the Pirelli Cinturato P7 shows promising results in dry handling/objective and dynamic handling, it falls short in terms of lifespan and cost-effectiveness, particularly when compared to the Continental PremiumContact 7. The Continental tyre not only dominated in the tests with higher rankings but also outshines in dry and wet grip, making it the superior choice overall.
