Detailed head-to-head comparison based on actual test results
The two tyres in our comparison are the Nexen N Blue 4 Season and the Michelin CrossClimate+.
The Nexen N Blue 4 Season tyre, manufactured in CN and TR, has a respectable rating at 62%. However, the manufacturer Nexen has replaced this version with the newer Nexen N Blue 4 Season 2. On the other hand, the Michelin CrossClimate+ tyre, from the renowned manufacturer Michelin, outranks the Nexen tyre with a rating of 71% and has not been replaced by a newer model.
The Nexen tyre's strengths, according to Autobild's tests, are its exterior noise, value for money, comfort, and snow cornering capabilities. However, it lagged in the test, coming 8th out of 27. The Michelin CrossClimate+ on the other hand, clinched 2nd position. Its best features were dry braking, exterior noise, rolling resistance, handle during dry conditions, mileage, snow handling, and value for the price. Even with the different tests, like ACE and AutoMotorSport, the Michelin tyre consistently held a higher position than the Nexen tyre.
Analysing the Autobild 2020's tests, the Nexen N Blue 4 Season showed a balanced performance level with short dry braking distances, good aquaplaning properties, quiet rolling noise and good economy. The Michelin CrossClimate+, on the other hand, was a premium all-season tyre with balanced performance in any weather, dynamic handling qualities, precise steering behaviour, high mileage, and low rolling resistance. However, its high price point was considered a drawback.
Given all the data, both tyres show unique strengths. The Nexen N Blue 4 Season is a more affordable, comfortable and quiet tyre. However, the Michelin CrossClimate+, while being a bit pricier, provides better handling and a higher mileage. Thus, if price is not the top priority, Michelin CrossClimate+ would be the better option according to the comprehensive tests done by Autobild, Autobild 2020, ACE, Autoklub ČR, and AutoMotorSport.
