Comparison: Michelin Primacy 4 vs. Semperit Speed-Life 3 vs. Goodyear Efficientgrip 2 SUV

In this article, we are going to compare two popular summer tyres, the Michelin Primacy 4 and the Semperit Speed-Life 3. Both have been tested and rated by various sources, and we will summarize the data to help you make an informed decision when choosing between them.

The Michelin Primacy 4 is a touring summer tyre from Michelin and is manufactured in ES, DE, and PL. With an overall rating of 90%, it offers impressive performance and is the successor to the Michelin Primacy 3. It is worth noting that Michelin has already replaced the Primacy 4 with the newer Michelin Primacy 4+.

On the other hand, the Semperit Speed-Life 3 is a summer tyre from Semperit with an overall rating of 81%. This tyre is one of the latest in a line of successful models, such as the Semperit Speed-Life.

In tests conducted by ADAC, the Michelin Primacy 4 ranked 5th out of 17 tyres, with its dry braking, wet circle cornering, safety, and mileage as standout features. The Semperit Speed-Life 3, on the other hand, ranked 10th in the same test and showcased its prowess in aquaplaning - cross and mileages, as well as wet braking.

Autobild also conducted its tests, which included 53 tyres. In this comparison, the Michelin Primacy 4 secured 5th place, impressing with its dry handling and comfort attributes. The Semperit Speed-Life 3 landed in the 12th position, with wet braking being its most notable feature.

According to ADAC's test summaries, the Michelin Primacy 4 showed exceptional balance, especially good on dry and wet road surfaces, with relatively low wear. However, it had no specific weaknesses. The Semperit Speed-Life 3 was still good on dry road conditions and had relatively low fuel consumption and wear, but weaknesses on wet road surfaces were evident.

Autobild's summary for the Michelin Primacy 4 also mentioned convincing handling qualities, agile steering, good aquaplaning reserves, short braking distances, high mileage, and low rolling resistance. However, it had a higher price point as its downside. The speed of the Semperit Speed-Life 3 on wet surfaces was noteworthy, as was its low wear level. However, it had weaknesses on dry surfaces.

In conclusion, the Michelin Primacy 4 offers a more balanced performance on both dry and wet surfaces, with an emphasis on safety and mileage. The Semperit Speed-Life 3, while also a strong summer tyre choice, shows some weaknesses in wet conditions. Overall, the Michelin Primacy 4 seems to outperform the Semperit Speed-Life 3 in testing positions and offers better overall performance. However, its higher price point may be one consideration to keep in mind when making a decision.
