Comparison: Michelin Primacy 4 vs. Fulda EcoControl HP2 vs. Pirelli Cinturato P7

The Michelin Primacy 4 and the Fulda EcoControl HP2 are two competitor tyres that have performed well in numerous tests, but there is a significant difference between them when examining results more closely. Both are summer tyres, but in our review, the Michelin Primacy 4 comes out ahead with a rating of 82% compared to 71% for the Fulda EcoControl HP2.

The Michelin Primacy 4, made in ES, DE, and PL, is a touring tyre that performs particularly well on both dry and wet road surfaces. According to the ADAC 2022 test results, the Primacy 4 excelled in dry braking and wet circle cornering, ranking third out of 16 tyres. Autobild also ranked it in the 5th place out of the 53 tyres tested, again showcasing its balanced performance and relatively low wear. These features highlight Michelin's ongoing commitment to safety and durability, but it's worth mentioning that this tyre model has been surpassed by the newer Michelin Primacy 4+.

On the other hand, the Fulda EcoControl HP2 proved to be satisfactory in terms of aquaplaning resistance in the Autobild test. Despite these commendations, it still lagged, coming 14th out of 16 tyres in the ADAC test and placing 20th in the Autobild test. The road performance of the HP2 certainly gives consumers reasons to consider, however, the performance gap with higher-rated tyres such as the Primacy 4 is apparent, more so for drivers who prioritize braking performance on wet and dry roads. There is no newer version yet from Fulda to replace this tyre.

In summary, the data indicates that for overall test performance, the Michelin Primacy 4 consistently outperforms the Fulda EcoControl HP2, particularly in dry and wet braking. However, those who value resistance to aquaplaning should give the Fulda model a closer look.
