Comparison: Michelin Primacy 4+ vs. Pirelli Cinturato P7 C2 vs. Bridgestone Turanza T005 vs. GoodYear Efficientgrip Performance 2

The Michelin Primacy 4+ is a touring tyre optimized for summer driving. It boasts an overall rating of 77% from our tests, and has previously replaced the Michelin Primacy 4.3 model. The Primacy 4+ model exhibits stellar performance in terms of comfort, with quiet traffic noise and a lower rolling resistance.

However, a few drawbacks are highlighted including distinguished sluggish dry handling with limited grip in handling and braking. Although having short wet braking and good wet handling characteristics, it was only rated average on the dry grounds. The tyre enjoys a premium price point, indicating its high-end market positioning. In terms of the positional comparison in mutual tests, it managed to secure 4th position in Autobild, 7th in Autozeitung and 2nd in Autoklub ČR out of 19 tyres tested.

In contrast, the Pirelli Cinturato P7 C2 boasts an impressive 86% rating in our testing, suggesting an overall advantage. Although also a summer tyre, it has a broad spectrum of high-performing features. These include solid capabilities against aquaplaning - longitudal, comfort, low rolling resistance and adequate dry braking. Pirelli's premium positioning is evident in its pricing, which is slightly higher than the average for this product segment.

Despite boasting high comfort and low rolling resistance, the Pirelli Cinturato P7 C2 did not fare as well in the mutual tests, securing 6th position in Autobild, 2nd in Autozeitung and 4th in Autoklub ČR. It lagged behind in the ADAC test where it came in 17th out of 50 tyres tested.

In conclusion, both tyres present unique pros and cons. The Michelin Primacy 4+ stands out for its comfort and noise reduction, however, it exhibits less enthusiastic dry handling performance. On the other hand, the Pirelli Cinturato P7 C2 delivers strong overall performance but at a premium price and falls short when it comes to an optimal balance in wet and dry conditions. Thus, the choice between the two would depend largely on the specific requirements and budget of the buyer.
