Comparison: Michelin Pilot Sport 4 vs. Maxxis Premitra HP5 vs. Pirelli P ZERO PZ4

In this text, we are going to compare two popular summer tyres: the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 and the Maxxis Premitra HP5. They were both tested by Autobild and Automotorsport, and their strengths and weaknesses were highlighted in these tests.

Starting with the Michelin Pilot Sport 4, it's a high performing tyre from Michelin, a leading tyre manufacturer. Made in Spain and Germany, it has a rating of 75% on our website. This tyre excelled in the tests, securing the second position out of 53 tyres in Autobild test and coming first in the Automotorsport's. It particularly excelled in wet handling and aquaplaning situations, both longitudal and cross. Let's note that there is a newer model that replaced Michelin Pilot Sport 4.

On the other hand, the Maxxis Premitra HP5 from Maxxis didn't fare as well as its competitor in the tests. It landed in the 20th position out of 53 in the Autobild test and ended up last in the Automotorsport's test. Despite not excelling in wet conditions like the Michelin tyre, it did grab points for having low exterior noise. This tyre has an overall rating of 56% on our website. Just like the Michelin Pilot Sport 4, the Maxxis Premitra HP5 was replaced by a newer model.

Overall, when comparing the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 and the Maxxis Premitra HP5, it's clear that the Michelin tyre outperforms the Maxxis tyre in both tests, demonstrating superior wet handling and aquaplaning capabilities. The Maxxis tyre, however, does hold its own in terms of noise reduction. Considering all the test results, the Michelin tyre seems to be the better choice for those prioritizing performance and safety, while the Maxxis tyre could be suitable for those seeking quieter tyre noise.
