Comparison: Linglong Sport Master vs. Continental PremiumContact 7 vs. Goodyear Efficientgrip 2 SUV vs. Pirelli P ZERO PZ4

html
When comparing the Linglong Sport Master and the Continental PremiumContact 7, the gap between a budget UHP contender and a premium touring tyre becomes immediately apparent. The Continental PremiumContact 7 is the successor to the Continental PremiumContact 6 and Continental ContiPremiumContact 5, carrying forward a strong legacy while adding refinements in handling, economy and safety.

In the ADAC test, the verdict could not be more decisive: the Continental PremiumContact 7 claimed 1st place out of 16 tyres, earning the title of outright test winner. The Linglong Sport Master, by contrast, finished last — 16th out of 16. ADAC praised the Continental for its best-in-class wet and dry driving characteristics, short braking distances and high safety reserves at the limit, noting no significant weaknesses. The Linglong was acknowledged for short braking distances and safe handling in varied conditions, but was penalised heavily for its severely limited tread life and high rolling resistance — two factors that directly affect running costs and environmental impact.

The Auto Bild 2025 mega-test (50 tyres) tells a similar story, though with narrower margins. The Continental PremiumContact 7 ranked 5th overall, with stand-out results in aquaplaning resistance and rolling resistance, complemented by dynamic handling and an impressive cost-per-kilometre score. The Linglong Sport Master placed 7th — a respectable result in such a large field — and was notably competitive in exterior noise. However, the same structural weaknesses reappeared: very low mileage and high rolling resistance continue to undermine its long-term value proposition.

Looking at earlier Auto Bild data from 2023, the Linglong showed short wet and dry braking distances and a quiet ride, which remain genuine strengths. The downside was clear even then: strong understeer on dry surfaces and mediocre comfort. The Continental PremiumContact 7 in that same test cycle was commended for its sporty-dynamic handling, precise turn-in and good tread life, with the only criticism being a higher purchase price.

Strengths and Weaknesses

The Linglong Sport Master earns its place as a budget-friendly UHP option. Its short braking distances on both wet and dry surfaces are a genuine safety highlight, and its low exterior noise makes it comfortable for daily driving. Where it falls short is in durability and efficiency — tread life is significantly below average, and the high rolling resistance increases fuel consumption over time. Dry handling dynamics also leave something to be desired, with a tendency to understeer.

The Continental PremiumContact 7 is, by the numbers, one of the best summer touring tyres currently available. With a 98% overall rating and a test win in the demanding ADAC evaluation, it delivers across every key metric: wet and dry safety, aquaplaning control, tread life and running costs. The higher purchase price is its only real drawback, and given its superior longevity, the total cost of ownership often balances out.

Verdict

For drivers prioritising safety, longevity and all-round performance, the Continental PremiumContact 7 is the clear choice — a test winner that dominates in direct comparison. The Linglong Sport Master can serve as a cost-conscious alternative with solid braking performance, but buyers should factor in faster wear and higher fuel costs when calculating the true price difference.
