Today we take a look at two tyres from popular manufacturers: Laufenn S Fit EQ+ LK01 and Kumho Ecsta PS71. Both tyres exhibit certain unique strengths and weaknesses which we'll examine in detail.
The Laufenn S Fit EQ+ LK01 has not yet been replaced by a newer model. While our rating percentage is undecided, it's worth noting that in the Autobild test, it took the 26th position out of 50. In the ADAC test, it performed better, taking the 14th position out of 17. Unfortunately, no specific strengths or weaknesses were highlighted in these tests.
On the other hand, the Kumho Ecsta PS71, a summer tyre from Kumho ranks considerably higher, with a rating of 76% from us. With its position at number 12 in the Autobild test and 3rd in the ADAC test, it's clear that the Kumho Ecsta PS71 has some noteworthy features. Specifically, it is highlighted for its excellent Aquaplaning - both longitudinal and cross, slick handling on wet roads, and overall comfort. Breaking on wet surfaces is another plus point. In addition, according to Autobild 2025, it features high balanced performance, good handling qualities, and short wet and dry braking distances. However, it's worth noting that it was criticised for slightly elevated road noise.
In conclusion, it's evident that the Kumho Ecsta PS71 is the stronger performer in comparison to the Laufenn S Fit EQ+ LK01, based on test results. This is primarily due to its balanced performance, handling qualities, and formidable Aquaplaning resistance, among other factors. However, the final decision should always be made keeping in mind specific driving requirements and conditions. Regardless of choice, a safe drive is always the top priority.
