Comparison: Kumho HA32 Solus 4S vs. Continental AllSeasonContact vs. Dunlop All Season 2 vs. GoodYear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 vs. Hankook Kinergy 4S2 H750 vs. Continental AllSeasonContact 2 vs. Bridgestone Turanza All Season 6

Today, we compare and contrast two popular tyres, the Kumho HA32 Solus 4S and the Continental AllSeasonContact, to see which one might be the better choice based on several different tests conducted over the past couple of years.

The Kumho HA32 Solus 4S, manufactured in China, has an overall rating of 73%. It performed best in the Auto Bild tests in areas such as snow braking, mileage, and price to value ratio. Longitudinal aquaplaning and exterior noise were also among its top features. However, the tyre's performance showed some weaknesses in areas like dry and wet braking, and snow grip, leading to its 10th place finish in a field of 32 tyres.

On the other hand, the Continental AllSeasonContact, manufactured in Slovakia, Czech Republic and France, achieved an overall rating of 76%. This all-rounder excelled in areas such as snow braking, snow cornering, and wet circle cornering. It also earned praise for its comfort and snow handling, taking the 8th place in the same test. However, its performance on dry surfaces and its durability were seen as downsides.

In terms of mutual test positions, the Continental tyre did manage to beat the Kumho model. Yet, both are still well within the top one-third of all tyres tested, indicating that they are quite comparable in performance.

The Kumho tyre is praised for its traction and braking on snow, high mileage, and good economy. Yet, it is marked down for slightly prolonged wet and dry braking distances and mediocre aquaplaning reserves.

Meanwhile, the Continental tyre is recognised for its top winter capabilities, stable wet handling, and low rolling resistance. Yet, it falls a bit short due to understeering behaviour and prolonged braking distances on dry roads, and a perceived lack of durability and economy.

To summarise, while the Kumho HA32 Solus 4S has its advantages, especially in terms of price and mileage, the Continental AllSeasonContact comes out slightly ahead overall, particularly for drivers who often face winter conditions. This is reflected in both the test results and our overall ratings. However, each tyre's performance can also be influenced by factors like the specific vehicle model and individual driving styles. Therefore, we recommend further exploring the Kumho and Continental tyres to find the best match for your needs.

Currently, neither of the tyres has been superseded by a newer model.

Note: Always consider the dates of the test results, as manufacturers often improve their tyres over time.
