1 mutual test(s) with detailed data

In our comparison of two summer tyres, we take a close look at the Kumho Ecsta PS71 and the Bridgestone Turanza T005. This review summarises the data from various tests including ADAC and Autobild, giving you a deeper understanding of each tyre's strengths and weaknesses.

The Kumho Ecsta PS71 received an overall rating of 77%. Its performance was noted for its exceptional abilities during aquaplaning, both cross and longitudinal. In the ADAC test, it secured the third position out of 17 tyres, indicating a strong performance in a competitive field. Autobild's test, however, placed it in the 18th position out of 53 tyres. Despite this, the tyre was praised for its balanced behavior, and particularly its performance on wet surfaces, and it was noted that it exhibited no particular weaknesses. Kumho, the manufacturer of Ecsta PS71, has not released a newer model to replace this tyre yet.

On the other hand, the Bridgestone Turanza T005 got an impressive rating of 89%. This tyre particularly stood out in dry braking according to ADAC's report where it achieved the fourth position out of 17 tyres. The Autobild test also favored this Bridgestone summer tyre, it earned the tenth position among 53 tyres, and high marks for its rolling resistance. However, it did display a slightly increased wear rate. As with the Kumho tyre, the Turanza T005 has not yet been replaced by a newer model.

In conclusion, both tyres have their strengths - with the Kumho Ecsta PS71 showing an edge on wet surfaces and the Bridgestone Turanza T005 performing better on dry asphalt. While the Bridgestone Turanza T005 has a higher overall rating and somewhat better results in the tests, the choice between these tires should factor in each driver's specific needs and driving conditions.

Verdict: The Bridgestone Turanza T005, on overall consideration, pulls ahead with higher rankings in testing and a higher overall rating. But for drivers who prioritize wet surface performance, the Kumho Ecsta PS71 might be a viable choice.
