Comparison: Kumho Ecsta HS52 vs. Uniroyal RainSport 5

The comparison between two summer tyres, namely the Kumho Ecsta HS52 and the Uniroyal RainSport 5, reveals interesting and unique features of each tyre.

The Kumho Ecsta HS52, a touring tyre from Kumho, is an excellent choice for a wide range of vehicles. According to various testing data, it achieved an overall rating of 81% on our site. It replaces the previous Kumho Ecsta HS51 model. Its strengths include convincing performance on both wet and dry surfaces, short braking distances, and a competitive price. However, its ride comfort has received some criticism in the Autobild 2024 test.

Pitted against a total of 51 tyres in the Autobild test, the HS52 secured an impressive 3rd place. The Autoklub CR test gave it 13th position out of 19, and the ADAC test placed it 8th among 50 tyres. However, the Ecsta HS52 did show some weaknesses in environmental balance, efficiency, and sustainability according to the Autoklubcr 2023 test.

On the other hand, there is also the Uniroyal RainSport 5, a UHP model from Uniroyal. Our site rates its overall performance at 72%. The RainSport 5, despite being tested against 51 tyres in the Autobild test secured the 36th position due to its excellent aquaplaning resistance and secure handling in wet conditions. Moreover, it secured the 5th position in Autoklub CR out of 19 tyres. However, it did fall behind in the ADAC test, securing only the 31st position out of 50 tyres. Struggles in dry conditions, environmental impact and sustainability, and lower mileage were some of the issues noted during testing.

To summarize, the Kumho Ecsta HS52 wins in overall performance given its impressive results in different tests. It demonstrates better balance, good dry and wet handling, and cost-effectiveness. However, if resistance to aquaplaning and wet handling are your main concerns, the Uniroyal RainSport 5 may be the better option.
