Comparison: Kumho Ecsta HS52 vs. Nexen N Fera Primus vs. Michelin Primacy 4+

2 mutual test(s) with detailed data

The Kumho Ecsta HS52 is a touring, summer tyre that received an overall rating of 81% in our tests. This model replaced the previous Kumho Ecsta HS51. On the other hand, there's the Nexen N Fera Primus, an UHP, summer tyre that earned an 80% rating in our tests. Neither of these tyres have been replaced with newer models.

Both tyres were put to the test by Autobild, ADAC, and autobild 2022. In the Autobild test, the Kumho Ecsta HS52 came in at 3rd out of 51 tyres, with outstanding performance in dry braking, dry handling, wet braking, and price/value ratio. Conversely, the Nexen N Fera Primus placed 10th, showing particular strength in longitudinal aquaplaning.

According to autobild 2024, the Kumho Ecsta HS52 excels in wet and dry driving, with short wet and dry braking distances and a cost-effective price. However, comfort might be an issue with this tyre. In contrast, the Nexen N Fera Primus gives good braking performance and dynamic wet handling, though it has delayed steering response and a limited lifespan.

The ADAC test ranked the Kumho Ecsta HS52 8th and the Nexen N Fera Primus 10th out of 50 tyres. The HS52 performed well in mileage and wet circle cornering. Autobild 2022 reported that the Kumho Ecsta HS52 offered balanced performance potential, good comfort and value, but had delayed steering response. Meanwhile, the Nexen N Fera Primus excelled in aquaplaning qualities, secure wet handling, short wet braking distances and price although it was criticised for understeering dry handling, limited lifespan, and increased rolling resistance.

Considering all test results, it can be deduced that the Kumho Ecsta HS52 edges out the Nexen N Fera Primus in performance by a narrow margin. Both tyres have their strengths and weaknesses, making them suitable for different driving conditions and priorities. Explore more about Kumho and Nexen tyres on our website.
