1 mutual test(s) with detailed data

In our tyre comparison, we test the Kumho Ecsta HS52 and the BFGoodrich Advantage side by side. Both are summer tyres, with the former standing out in our rating with a score of 78% and the latter trailing slightly behind with a score of 68%.

Kumho Ecsta HS52 is a touring tyre that has shown impressive performance in multiple tests. Looking at its previous model, the Kumho Ecsta HS51, the HS52 improves on its predecessor's performance and stakes its claim as a reliable tyre choice. In mutual tests, the HS52 consistently outperformed the BFGoodrich Advantage, with its best features being dry braking, dry handling, wet braking, and price/value. It soared to the top in the Autobild test, taking the 3rd position out of 51 tyres tested.

Despite its strong performance, the Kumho Ecsta HS52 does have a few downsides. It displayed some minor weaknesses in its environmental balance and efficiency, as noted in the autobild 2024 summary. In the autobild 2022 summary, it has also shown some delay in steering response.

If you prioritize comfort in your drive, the BFGoodrich Advantage might be more to your liking. Despite lagging behind the Kumho Ecsta HS52 in testing, it has been praised for its comfort, with other positives including dynamic dry handling, quiet rolling noise, low rolling resistance, and a reasonably low price as per autobild 2024 test summary. Unfortunately, it lacked in wet handling and had a tendency to understeer, especially in wet conditions, as indicated in autobild 2022 test results.

In the end, though both tyres have their merits, the Kumho Ecsta HS52 stands out as the clear winner overall. If you're after high-quality performance but still at a good value, then this Kumho tyre is a solid choice. On the other hand, if comfort and quiet driving are your primary concerns, then the BFGoodrich Advantage may be a suitable option.
