Comparison: Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 K127 vs. Continental PremiumContact 6 vs. Michelin Pilot Sport 5 vs. Bridgestone Turanza T005

Here we will evaluate the performance of two renowned tyre models—the Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 K127 and the Continental PremiumContact 6. Data is drawn from various tyre tests to provide a comprehensive comparison.

The Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 K127, produced by Hankook, is an Ultra High-Performance tyre that achieves an overall rating of 81%. Notably, it serves as the original equipment for vehicles like Audi Q8, Audi SQ8, Porsche Cayenne and BMW X3.

In tests, the Hankook model performed exceptionally well in Dry braking, Wet braking, and Dry lane changing. However, reviews from Autobild and AutoMotorSport noted limitations in Kurvenaquaplaning (Curved aquaplaning) and Aquaplaningschutz, suggesting compromised safety in wet curves and aquaplaning scenarios. However, the lower price, lower rolling resistance and excellent dry and wet handling are significant assets.

On the other hand, the Continental PremiumContact 6, a product of Continental, is a touring tyre earning an overall rating of 87%. It replaces the Continental ContiPremiumContact 5 and has since been superseded by the Continental PremiumContact 7.

Tests indicate that this tyre excels in Dry braking, Dry handling, Comfort, and mileage, while offering excellent price value. In Autobild's test, it ranked 8th amongst 53 tyres. AutoMotorSport's review praised its Dry steering response and Comfort. However, it was noted to have reduced safety reserves during aquaplaning, a delayed steering response and extended wet braking distances.

In ADAC's test, Continental outshone its competitor by taking the 1st position, while the Hankook tyre placed 14th out of 16 tyres tested. However, it is worth noting that the Continental tyre's best features in this test were mileage, wet braking, wet circle cornering, and wet handling.

Overall, the Continental PremiumContact 6 slightly outperforms the Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 K127 in key performance areas, especially in wet conditions and mileage. Notwithstanding, the Hankook is a reliable and efficient alternative for those who prioritize dry handling and a favourable price-value ratio.
