Comparison: Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance 2 vs. Maxxis Premitra HP5 vs. BFGoodrich Advantage vs. Pirelli Cinturato (C3) vs. GoodYear Efficientgrip Performance 2

In this comparison, we will be looking at two popular summer tyres: Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance 2 and Maxxis Premitra HP5. Both have their strong points and weaknesses as per various tests, making them widely suitable for different driving conditions.

The Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance 2 is a successor of Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance, and it outdoes its predecessor by scoring an impressive 87% in our rating. This tyre excels in mileage, price/value ratio, and comfort. It bagged the 13th position in Autobild, secured the 3rd and 4th places in Autozeitung and Firmenauto respectively. Its exceptional features like dry handling, exterior noise, wet circle cornering, aquaplaning-cross, and comfort contributed to its higher rankings. Although the Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance 2 offers premium profile with convincing handling properties and short braking distances, it does suffer from a high price level.

On the other hand, the Maxxis Premitra HP5 has a strong foothold in situations confronting aquaplaning - both cross and longitudinal. This tyre secured 9th position in Autobild test and 5th in Autozeitung. Thanks to its excellent dry handling, aquaplaning and wet handling capabilities, Maxxis Premitra HP5 was also ranked 4th in GTÜ test. It also performs well in exterior noise reduction and wet handling. However, its weaknesses include a delay in steering response, mediocre grip level on both wet and dry surfaces, and limited mileage.

In comparison, Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance 2 and Maxxis Premitra HP5 have their places in the market, but the former enjoys superiority in broader aspects based on the test results. If we purely look at our ratings, Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance 2 dominated at 87% whereas Maxxis Premitra HP5 stood at 78%.

In conclusion, if you are looking for a summer tyre with higher mileage, excellent comfort, and greater value for money, Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance 2 would be a better choice. However, if you are more concerned about aquaplaning safety and desire lower noise levels, then Maxxis Premitra HP5 could be your go-to tyre.
