The GoodYear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 and the Maxxis Premitra HP5 are both summer tyres from reputable manufacturers. Both have been subject to extensive testing to determine their strengths and weaknesses.
When compared in the Promobil tests, out of eight tyres tested, the GoodYear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 aced the competition coming at the 6th position. The Maxxis Premitra HP5 trailed just behind, securing the 7th spot.
In the Autobild tests, results were more pronounced. Competing against 53 other tyres, GoodYear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 (GoodYear) achieved the top spot, while Maxxis Premitra HP5 (Maxxis) came in at the 20th position.
The Goodyear tyre performed exceptionally well in aquaplaning features such as Grass traction, mileage, wet braking, Wet circle cornering, and cross which led to its high ranking. These results highlight Goodyear's consistent commitment to safety and performance in wet conditions, hence the high 41% rating from us.
Maxxis's best features according to the Autobild tests emerged as Exterior noise, Aquaplaning - longitudal and cross. Despite these strengths, the overall test result was overshadowed by the superior performance of the competition, resulting in a lower ranking. It also scored significantly higher than Goodyear at 56% rating in our review.
To note, GoodYear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 replaced the GoodYear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 model and as per the latest information, it has itself been replaced by GoodYear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6. As for Maxxis Premitra HP5, there have been no updates regarding any model replacement as of now.
Overall, which one of these two tires is better for you will depend on your individual needs, usage scenarios, and preferences. Both tyres have areas where they excel, Goodyear showcases strength in wet performances and mileage where Maxxis shines in exterior noise and Aquaplaning.
