The GoodYear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5, successor to the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3, and the Falken Azenis FK510 are two top-tier summer tyres manufactured by Goodyear and Falken respectively. Both models have proven merits in terms of performance and reliability, but they also exhibit distinct strengths and weaknesses.

The GoodYear model, manufactured in Slovenia and Germany, earned an overall rating of 85% in our assessments. Its performance in separate road tests was impressive, clinching the first position in the Autozeitung, AutoMotorSport and Autobild tests, and second and third positions in the Gute-Fahrt and ADAC tests respectively. Notably, this tyre exceled in handling, both in dry and wet conditions, as well as in aquaplaning resistance and mileage. However, this model has been replaced by a newer version, the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6.

On the other hand, the Falken model is manufactured in Japan and Turkey and scored a respectable 74% in our evaluations. It placed sixth in the Autobild test and fifth in the Autozeitung test, but fell down to eighth place in both the AutoMotorSport and ADAC tests. This tyre performed notably well in wet conditions, with excellent wet braking and handling capabilities. Other notable strengths include low exterior noise and rolling resistance. Despite these solid attributes, this tyre has also been succeeded by the Falken Azenis FK520.

As such, the GoodYear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 generally outperformed the Falken Azenis FK510 in terms of test results and our overall ratings. Its strong showing in different road tests, as well as high marks on various key attributes, elucidate why it is amongst the most preferred summer tyre choice for drivers. On the other hand, the Falken tyre shows solid and reliable performance despite not being quite as decorated.

In conclusion, both the GoodYear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 and Falken Azenis FK510 deliver reliable performance and offer specific strengths. The choice between the two will likely depend on individual driver's preferences, particularly regarding noise levels and wet weather handling.
