Comparison: Firestone Roadhawk vs. Continental PremiumContact 6 vs. Dunlop SP Sport MAXX RT2

3 mutual test(s) with detailed data

Today, we're analysing two summer tyres from well-known manufacturers: the Firestone Roadhawk and the Continental PremiumContact 6. Both tyres have been subjected to a variety of tests to determine their performance and functionality under different conditions.

The Firestone Roadhawk, produced by Firestone, secured a decent 72% rating from our team. In the ADAC test, it was in the 17th position, while in the autobild test it achieved the 13th rank out of 53. These rankings suggest that the tyre performs reasonably well, but still has room for improvement. Special mention should be given to its dry handling and wet-handling capabilities, which were highlighted as its best features.

In spite of these strengths, test summaries suggested that the Firestone Roadhawk had some weaknesses on wet surfaces, raising concerns over its ability to maintain control in such conditions. Furthermore, longer durability was also mentioned as an aspect needing improvement. On the upside, the tyre received commendation for low fuel consumption and efficient load handling.

On the other hand, the Continental PremiumContact 6, brought to market by Continental, enjoyed a higher rating of 87% from our team. This tyre has since been replaced by the Continental PremiumContact 7.

In comparison with the Firestone Roadhawk, the Continental PremiumContact 6 fared better in tests, securing the 2nd position in the ADAC test, and 8th in autobild. It notably outshines its competitor in terms of wet braking, a feature that is crucial for maintaining control during unexpected rainfall. It also excelled in both dry handling and mileage.

In the autozeitung test, it even secured the 1st position. The plus points noted in its test summary include high driving safety, good performance on both dry and wet surfaces, and low fuel consumption. The tyre was also praised for having no significant weaknesses.

In conclusion, while the Firestone Roadhawk is a solid option, our recommendation would lean towards the Continental PremiumContact 6 for its brilliant all-round performance, superb wet handling, and durability. This being said, it's always important to consider individual driving habits and requirements before making a final choice.
