Comparison: Falken Azenis FK510 vs. Maxxis Premitra HP5 vs. GoodYear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 vs. Firestone Roadhawk 2

Today, we are breaking down the features of two popular tyre models: the Falken Azenis FK510, produced by Falken, and the Maxxis Premitra HP5 by Maxxis. These summer tyres are both highly rated, but there are some differences that may influence your purchasing decision.

The Azenis FK510, a product of Japanese and Turkish manufacturing, gets a solid 71% in our rating. It's a high-performing summer tyre that excels in dry handling and wet circle cornering, as evident from its test rankings. It secured impressive finishes in multiple tests, including first place in the ACE test, largely owing to its excellent dry and wet driving performance. Its notable features also include good exterior noise levels and impressive wet braking. The Azenis FK510 has now been replaced by the Falken Azenis FK520.

The Maxxis Premitra HP5, on the other hand, scored 69% in our ranking, finding its strengths in aquaplaning performance, both cross and longitudinal, dry handling and wet circle cornering. Despite its slightly lower overall rating, the Premitra HP5 finished 4th in the GTÜ test, outperforming many contenders. However, it came in 6th in the ACE test, which focused on dry driving behaviour, and unfortunately, found itself at the end of the ranking in the Automotorsport test.

Looking at test positions, the Falken Azenis FK510 consistently outperforms the Maxxis Premitra HP5, boasting a 3rd place finish in Autobild's extensive test among 52 tyres, whereas the Premitra HP5 ranked 18th. The Azenis FK510 also secured top placings in ACE and GTÜ tests, proving its stellar performance against diverse competitiors.

Both tyres demonstrate strong performance in dry and wet conditions, making these summer tyres prime considerations for your vehicle. The choice between the Falken Azenis FK510 and the Maxxis Premitra HP5 largely comes down to your specific needs, whether you prioritize noise reduction, aquaplaning resistance or a balance of wet and dry driving competence.

But considering overall test positions and our ratings, the Falken Azenis FK510 holds an edge over the Maxxis Premitra HP5, showing higher consistency across different tests. Azenis FK510 could be the go-to for those who want an all-rounded performance and are ready to move onto its newer model, the Azenis FK520.
