Tyre comparison presents an opportunity for some of the best summer tyres from Dunlop and Michelin; the Dunlop Sport BluResponse and Michelin Primacy 4+, respectively.
First off, the Dunlop Sport BluResponse, whose standout features are its commendable rolling resistance, was marked at 20th position in a test of 55 tyres by Autobild. However, according to Autobild 2024, the Dunlop Sport BluResponse, while being efficient and performing well on dry roads, revealed some shortcomings. These included a slight imbalance and a slight weakness on wet roads (downgrading), albeit coupled with an environmentally friendly attribute of rolling resistance. It was also observed to have a relatively low mileage. Our overall rating for this tyre model stands at 71%.
Switching the focus to the Michelin Primacy 4+, this summer tyre holds a track record of performing impressively in several tyre tests. Autobild ranked it at the 5th position due to its notable exterior noise attribute in a comparison test involving 55 tyres. A subsequent review by Autobild 2024 stated that the Michelin Primacy 4+ shows very balanced performance both on dry and wet roads. Recognised as an environmentally friendly tyre, it was praised for its substantially high mileage, a perfect rating. Unlike the Dunlop Sport BluResponse, the Michelin Primacy 4+ exhibited no particular weaknesses. Our website, after comprehensive review and tests, rates this tyre at 77%.
Both tyres were also involved in the Autoklub ČR test, a comparison test of 19 tyres. In this test, the Dunlop Sport BluResponse took the 12th position while the Michelin Primacy 4+ came in as the runner-up, the second-best tyre. This performance trend was replicated in the ADAC test. Placed 16th, the Dunlop Sport BluResponse was outperformed by the Michelin Primacy 4+, which was ranked at the exceptional 3rd position in a grand grouping of 50 tyres.
To summarise, although the Dunlop Sport BluResponse is a fair tyre choice with decent performance on dry roads, and relatively energy-efficient, it has been clearly outranked by the Michelin Primacy 4+ in a majority of tests and categories. The Michelin Primacy 4+ demonstrated strong and consistent performance, offering good balance on both dry and wet roads, high mileage and low exterior noise, making it an excellent choice for summer tyres. Keep in mind though that both these models become even better along with the evolution of their newer models, as companies continuously work on improving their tyres.
