First up is the Dunlop SP Sport MAXX RT2, an ultra-high performance (UUHP) summer tyre. This model has obtained a solid 79% in our internal rating system. According to the test results from ADAC, it ranked 5 out of 16 tested tyres, with its best feature being the cross direction Aquaplaning category. However, a noted weakness in Autobild's summary was a delayed responsive steering on dry surfaces.

Next, we have the Kumho Ecsta HS52, a touring summer tyre. This model trumped the Dunlop tyre in our internal rating with an impressive 81%. The Kumho Ecsta HS52 is the successor of the Ecsta HS51. The HS52 outperformed the Dunlop SP Sport MAXX RT2 in the ADAC test, coming in 3rd out of 16, with excellent Mileage and Wet circle cornering attributes. Autobild also ranked it at 3rd out of 51 tested tyres, commending its Dry braking and excellent Price/value ratio. However, Autobild noted a slight issue with the tyre's delayed steering response.

In summary, both tyres deliver positive performance. However, the Kumho Ecsta HS52 fares slightly better in brakes and price/value ratio making it an excellent choice for a summer touring tyre. The Dunlop SP Sport MAXX RT2, on the other hand, offers outstanding aquaplaning properties and comfort, marking it as a great choice for those looking for UUHP summer tyres. Both tyres have been noted to show delayed response in steering on dry surfaces.
