Comparison: Continental EcoContact 6 vs. BFGoodrich Advantage vs. Nexen N Fera Primus vs. GoodYear Efficientgrip Performance 2

Today we're exploring and examining two tyres from reputable manufacturers: Continental EcoContact 6 and BFGoodrich Advantage. Taking a close look at these tyres from a variety of tests, we've gathered the data to help us reach a conclusion about which tyre might provide the better experience for you.

Let's start with the Continental EcoContact 6, a summer tyre made in Germany that receives our rating of 63%. This tyre replaced the previous model, Continental ContiEcoContact 5, and has since been replaced by the newer model Continental EcoContact 7. Reviews from AutoBild, confirm its best features include reduced exterior noise, enhanced comfort, and an optimal rolling resistance. Despite these positives, the tyre has certain limitations including a reduced capacity for aquaplaning and increased wet braking distances.

Moving on to the BFGoodrich Advantage, this summer tyre secures a stronger position in our rating, boasting a 76% score. The tyre has showcased top qualities including high-quality comfort and on-road stability even during the driest conditions. Despite these strengths, the BFGoodrich Advantage has been criticized for under-performing handling behavior and extended braking distances in wet conditions.

Looking at their performance in mutual tests, the BFGoodrich Advantage takes the lead in the AutoBild test by placing 20th amongst 51 tyres, while the Continental EcoContact 6 lands 23rd place. This trend is visible in the ADAC test too, where BFGoodrich Advantage secures the 10th spot and Continental EcoContact 6 takes the 8th position among 16 tested tyres. In an Autozeitung test, Continental EcoContact 6 holds the 7th spot while BFGoodrich Advantage is situated at the 9th place.

As summarised, both tyres possess unique strengths and weaknesses. While the Continental EcoContact 6 excels with its noise reduction and comfort, it struggles with aquaplaning reserves and lengthy wet braking distances. Meanwhile, the BFGoodrich Advantage portrays high stability and impressive dry braking, but it is censured for its suboptimal performance in moist conditions.

If you lean towards quiet and comfortable rides and can tackle wet conditions, consider Continental EcoContact 6. If dry comfort and stable driving conditions are more critical, BFGoodrich Advantage is the choice for you.

To make the most informed decision, consider both your driving behaviour and regional climate. Ultimately, a choice between the two highly depends on individual driving patterns.
