Comparison: Bridgestone Weather Control A005 EVO vs. Michelin CrossClimate 2 vs. Dunlop Winter vs. GoodYear UltraGrip Performance+

In this comparison, we will be focusing on two all-season tyres: Bridgestone Weather Control A005 EVO and Michelin CrossClimate 2. Both of these tyres have been tested in multiple scenarios in different test sites, and we will compare their strengths, weaknesses and overall performance based on the available data.

Starting with the Bridgestone Weather Control A005 EVO, this tyre shines in terms of wet braking and dry grip, with strong aquaplaning resistance. In tests, it consistently scored well for rolling resistance, reducing fuel consumption. However, the tyre's performance on snow leaves much to be desired, as it has extremely limited snow performance with the longest braking distance and most difficult snow handling lap. Additionally, the tyre produced the highest internal noise across the tests. Overall, its rating is 85%.

On the other hand, the Michelin CrossClimate 2 showcases exceptional snow performance, often rivaling dedicated winter tyres. This tyre excels in dry braking and provides a high aquaplaning resistance. However, it does encounter some issues with its wet grip tests, where the tyre tends to understeer. Despite this, the overall rating for the Michelin CrossClimate 2 is higher than its counterpart, clocking in at 89%.

In the mutual tests, Michelin CrossClimate 2 consistently ranks higher overall. In Autoklub ČR test, Michelin ranked 1st with its snow and dry braking capabilities, whereas Bridgestone ranked 2nd with strong wet braking performance. In AutoBild test, Michelin scored 2nd with its snow traction, dry braking, and exterior noise features, while Bridgestone ranked 5th with its wet braking and wet circle cornering capabilities.

To summarize, Michelin CrossClimate 2 appears to be a better choice for all-season tyres as it exhibits superior snow performance, better overall ratings, and consistently higher rankings in mutual tests. However, the Bridgestone Weather Control A005 EVO should not be disregarded, as it provides excellent wet and dry grip, with impressive rolling resistance performance.
