Comparison: Bridgestone Potenza Sport vs. Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 K127 vs. Hankook Ventus Prime 4 vs. Continental PremiumContact 7

In this article, we present a detailed comparison of two popular summer tyres - the Bridgestone Potenza Sport and the Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 K127. Both these tyres belong to the UUHP (Ultra-Ultra High Performance) category. While Bridgestone products are manufactured in Poland and Hungary, the Hankook Ventus is produced in Korea.
On our rating scale, the Bridgestone Potenza Sport is ahead with a score of 89% as compared to the Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 K127 which scored 74%. As a quick note, as of now, these tyres haven’t been replaced by newer models.
The Bridgestone Potenza Sport shines in wet conditions, boasting significant grip and the fastest lap time among the group, as well as excellent wet braking capabilities. However, areas where it fell short include a considerable drop in cooler wet braking tests and a struggle with deeper water in the aquaplaning tests. Moreover, it showed potential longevity issues and high rolling resistance, and was found to be the least cost-effective on test.
The Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 K127 on the other hand, provides excellent value for money, showing commendable wet grip and low energy use. It’s steering response was the slowest in the test and it has very low resistance against aquaplaning. But it is also important to mention that it is used as the first equipment in high-end cars like Audi Q8, Audi SQ8, Porsche Cayenne and BMW X3.
As per overall results, in the "Die Reifentester" evaluation, the Bridgestone Potenza Sport bagged the first position out of 8, while the Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 K127 stood fourth. In the "ACE" test, Bridgestone managed to secure the fourth place out of 10 and Hankook came seventh. In the "Autobild" test, Bridgestone again managed to secure the first place out of 9 and Hankook settled at the sixth position.
In conclusion, the Bridgestone Potenza Sport shows superior performance and grip, especially in wet conditions but is slightly on the expensive side. On the other hand, the Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 K127 offers excellent value for money and commendable wet grip, but has its limitations in steering response and aquaplaning resistance. Both tires have their strengths and weaknesses and the choice would ultimately depend on the specific needs and conditions of usage of the driver.
