2026 Guide
Dunlop VAN summer tyres - market overview, tests, reviews
Below we highlight just a few Dunlop summer tyres chosen from the many available, based on results from recent independent tests. The summaries focus on what the tests consistently found, so you can quickly see where each tyre shines and where it compromises. If a model has been replaced, we note it; if not, we state its current status as seen in our sources.
Dunlop SP Sport MAXX RT2 (UUHP)
Across several fresh rounds of testing, the SP Sport MAXX RT2 continues to deliver a broadly capable, sport‑leaning performance. In ADAC’s 2025 test of 225/40 R18 it earned a “good,” standing out as the lightest tyre on test with low fuel consumption and strong dry and wet-road competence, though predicted mileage and abrasion were not among the very best. Auto Bild (2025, same size) also rated it “good,” praising its large aquaplaning safety reserves, decent mileage and comfort, while noting slight understeer on wet handling. Sportauto (2024, 215/40 R18) highlighted fuel-saving rolling resistance and straight-line aquaplaning security, but found wet braking and wet handling a step behind the class leaders and described the dry balance as occasionally less harmonious. An additional ADAC test in 2024 (215/55 R17) placed it mid-pack. In short, the RT2 is a well-rounded UUHP option for sporty compacts and mid-size cars, with standout aquaplaning security and efficiency for its category, but not the top choice if you prioritise ultimate wet grip or maximum longevity. Replacement status: in the test sources we track, no official successor has been announced to replace the SP Sport MAXX RT2.
Dunlop Sport BluResponse
Positioned as an efficiency‑oriented touring tyre, the BluResponse remains relevant in mainstream sizes. Auto Bild (2024, 205/55 R16) praised its aquaplaning resistance, short dry braking and fuel‑saving rolling resistance, while calling wet grip average. ADAC (2023, 205/55 R16) found it good on dry roads and notably efficient and light, but not fully balanced overall due to weaknesses in the wet; it also faced deductions for environmental balance and projected mileage. Earlier, ADAC (2022, 215/60 R16) rated it “good.” Overall, BluResponse suits drivers who value low consumption and solid dry‑road manners, and who mostly drive in everyday conditions rather than frequently pushing wet‑grip limits or seeking very high mileage. Replacement status: our current database and the tests cited do not show a confirmed successor replacing the Sport BluResponse; we will update this page if Dunlop issues an official replacement.
What to choose
- For dynamic driving in 18-inch fitments and frequent motorway use where aquaplaning safety and efficiency matter, the SP Sport MAXX RT2 is the stronger of the two.
- For commuting and fuel saving in popular 16-inch sizes, the Sport BluResponse offers good value, provided you accept average wet grip and moderate projected mileage.
We continuously update our selections as new tests appear; if Dunlop launches successors to either model, you’ll see them reflected here.
