The Smart Energy Casing uses adapted compounds in the carcass, inner liner and sidewall to cut internal friction and thereby reduce rolling resistance. The sidewall also features an Aerodimple texture \u2014 a surface structure Continental claims reduces aerodynamic drag by disrupting airflow around the rotating tyre. At motorway speeds in an electric vehicle, reduced drag translates directly into extended range.
